If you're a U.S. citizen and the schools is recogonized by the U.S. Department of Education (nearly all Canadian 'universities' and many 'colleges' are), you should be eligible for the U.S. Government's Stafford Student Loan and your Parents are eligible for the Parents PLUS Loan. Generally all you have to do to prove financial support is show your student loan paperwork and then, if you are a dependent, you and your parent's should provide copies of financial statements for the previous year. That's all our family needed, but if you find you need extra funding, visit the FinAid website and they have some reasonable 'private' loans listed by terms and conditions to help you choose the most reasonable repayment plan for your specific situation. The "Educational Funding" page on the website below should help get you started. The FinAid website and their 'site map' are listed under "Additional Resources" on the bottom of the page. If you haven't already visited it, the site for Quebec is on the "Legal Documentation" page. If you're unsure if the paperwork you pull together is enough, call the border agency at the border crossing where you plan to enter and speak to an agent directly.
