Question by Xius: Are there any school loans that I can get to purchase a notebook computer? My college requires all students to have notebook computers and I've tried contacting the college about payment plans but they kept giving me a runaround. Yet, I don't have any grants, and I don't have enough money left on my direct government school loan. Are there any school loans out there in the U.S. that I can apply for to be able to purchase a notebook computer? Note: 'Serious' answers ONLY please! Thank you! I was able to add it onto my school loans for my classes. If you aren't able to do that, then I would look into a rent-to-own place and see what kind of deals they can do for you.

If you applied for FAFSA, or the governer's board waiver, you might be able to get more help for a computer. They have it down on a worksheet you fill out. Your school web site should have a link to it. Hope this helps.

Nothing specific for computers, just regular loans. If you are already maxed out on your loans for the year, you might ask your parents to help you out. They can get a loan for parent of students. You could use that money to buy a computer. Just remember that every dollar you borrow has to be paid back plus interest. You might be better off getting a job, or increasing the hours at the job you have. I just recieved an advertisement from Dell, they have notebooks for $ 500. Check out dell.com/backtoschool it is a contest to win a free laptop computer. If you choose to buy a dell, I could help you save another $ 20, just IM me and I'll give you the code. I'll keep the ad until tomorrow if your interested.

You can try to buy a used computer (I got one for $ 200~its a 2005 hp laptop). There are good stores out there (that honestly do look crapy on the outside) but have amazing prices. You can also test them out and see how you like it. I hope for the best for you.
And I would've had a cheap education too, if it weren't for those meddling governments and that dog! CREDITS: Intro by James Cunningham: www.youtube.com Intro music taken from Incompetech: incompetech.com used under the Creative Commons License Titles: "Ibn Al-Noor" & "Merry Go"

Going to school, especially to college, is quite expensive. You need a lot of money to sustain your school life. Many students can't continue their studies to college primarily because they can't afford doing so. In cases that one can't afford to do so, there are government grants for school loans to help you pay your tuition and other.
Education is priceless and there is nothing that we can't do to obtain this. Even though there are many cases that lack of money hinders one in going to college, there is much financial assistance available for students. You just need to look for one and take advantage of it so that you can continue schooling. There are popular grants and one of them is Pell grant. This particular grant can give you the money you need to pay for your expenses.
The first step in searching for a grant is to go to your local college and go straight to the financial aid office.
There, ask how to apply for a grant money. Once you get the money, you do not have to pay it back. This is very different from loans because you need to pay it back. Grant money is given for free. Money from grants can be used for your schooling until you finished and you do not need to pay it after graduating.Students who do not have enough money to continue studying must remember that the best way to study is to find and get free grant money. With free grant money, you do not have to worry where to get your money for tuition, miscellaneous fees, laboratory fees, books, lodging, and other expenses. Just go to the local financial aid office and learn how to apply. After that, you will go home smiling because you can still go to school with the free grant money at hand.
