As a Small Business Consultant in Auckland, to ensure my clients succeed, It's all about focus - The main marketing mistake that too many businesses make today is that they try to market to everyone.
Jamie McKean is the founder of The Profit Partnership, in Auckland, New Zealand. A Professional Business Consultant, a Business Coach, a Trainer, a published author, a Professional Copywriter, an expert in direct marketing and in automating your business, to allow you to work on your business, rather than inside your business. Jamie McKean is, in addition, a Partner of the Alchemy Network - a global network of Small to Medium Business Consultants.
What Happens If...
You're good at a few things - A few things that when put together are very valuable to any business.
You also know that preparation is key, whether growing a business, recovering a business or readying a business for sale. That's what I've done. I've hand picked a team of experts, successful buiness owners in their own right: Entrepreneurs, Lawyers, Accountants, Coaches, Currency Traders, Recruiters (to name a few), so that any business scenario, and its successful outcome, is assured.
So what am I good at? Marketing Everything - Managing Anything- Enabling Technology.
If you mix those natural skills with one of the leading Business Systems, courtesy of the Alchemy Network, a Masters degree from a top 5 European Faculty, years of personal productivity development and qualifications in Business and Life Coaching, you have someone who can bring a wealth of experience, ideas and passion to your business. All with a single aim of partnering with you, for you to learn, so you don't need me anymore.
It's all about focus
The main marketing mistake that too many businesses make today is that they try to market to everyone.
They try to be all things to all people.
Imagine this scenario: You have to grow food to feed your family. You have a field the size of a football pitch. You have a watering can from your garden. You only have enough water to fill the watering can once a day.
What would you do in that scenario? Most would answer: "I'll pick a small spot, plant seeds, and use my water wisely", which is the right answer.
So why then do most businesses try and cover the whole field (everyone) with the limited water (budget) and wonder why they go hungry (poor results)?
Does that sound familiar?
Next is the message
Once you have your focus (ie you know your market), then how to you get that market to buy your product?
It's about putting the message in words that your target market understand. If your target was teenagers, then perhaps you'd put your message in text language - gr8t! If your market was the older generation, then perhaps you'd put it in terms they understand, relating to senior intersts and likely in larger writing to make it easier for them.
Two overly simple examples of ensuring your message is tailored to your market.
Why do I know this? Because I'm a professional copywriter - writing adverts for clients to ensure the most effective message is written.
I haven't even started to cover the Market Research that is needed (and easy when you know how) for huge success.
Decide how to deliver
The type of message and the method of delivery are two key decisions that need to be made together. Why? Because the message may change depending on how you're going to deliver it.
Do you know that whilst email can get out to a much larger audience very quickly, a flyer will capture more of the audience's attention, and even better still (through studies) a brochure will be passed on average to 7 people?
And in that example, there are only three types of vehicles to deliver your message. I have a toolbox of over one hundred ways to deliver your message.
Are you starting to see how focussed Marketing could transform your business? If yes, contact me today to arrange a no obligation, no fee chat, to see if I can help you.
After Marketing, you need to focus on Managing, and first in that scope is Managing Yourself.
Managing You
As a Business Owner or Senior Leader, do you really appreciate how important it is to ensure that you are performing at the peak of your ability as much as possible?
That you are not wasting hours each day in labour intensive tasks that should and can be performed by someone else, to free you up to run your company?
With one business owner I offered one small change to his way of working - he took it and it freed up 2 hours of his work day, every day! That's over one day a week freed up with one small change! He has benefited, his company has benefited, even his family have benefited!
Managing People
Managing People is a skill you can only master after learning over years. How to get a good performer to be a great performer? How to get a team to work fantastically together? How to have a team all heading in the same direction? How to make the hard decisions when you need to?
I've found that its invaluable to have an objective pair of eyes and ears to support you in your team building efforts, and in the harder times the decision making, to get the best out of every situation for your company, because you do have to remember, its your company, that you've built up, so how do we get everyone working to achieve the best every day?
Managing Process
Why is a process important? Have you ever heard the term: "working on your business" (rather than working in your business)? Process is the silver bullet that will help you achieve that hands off goal that you likely desire today. Once your business is hands off, you can work on growing your business much larger than you could ever have imagined. With the right process, you can have that holiday. You can also ready the company for investment, sale or expansion (and franchising).
I have spent years implementing and fixing processes, and with the Alchemy Business Acceleration System, I additionally bring ready made processes for most businesses.
If you have the managing and marketing in hand, what happens if you can throw in technology to automate areas of your business?
Enabling Technology
With technology - where do you start? To know that most business owners know very little about technology - that's a start. It's not a great start, but its true. Do you agree?
You may know a little, perhaps be comfortable with Microsoft, use Word and Excel as part of your day to day - that's great, you're using technology to help you in your business.
What about email? Is it a help, making you productive each and every day, or do you feel chained to your inbox? Stopping work every time the 'new mail' sign appears?
What about that document you wrote a couple of months ago? Can you find it when you need it? Or do you have to spend time repeating something? And is that often?
What about your customers - how quickly can you find information about them? When was the last time someone spoke to them? Or when was the last time a customer bought something from you? All simple questions, but I usually find that business owners struggle to answer those questions quickly. How much value could it add to have that information to hand? To build marketing campaigns around what your customers really want?
If you are experienced in a number of forms of technology, and you do understand CRM, ERP, IM and KMs, that's fantastic, you're in the minority - I can still add value by helping ensure you're collecting the right information, that your processes are as efficient as possible, and your users are making the most of these enablers, to ensure they are just that - enabling your business to succeed, rather than constraining you. How does that sound?
What about your website? Is it a key part of your business that doesn't seem to be performing? Do you have a gut feel it could do better? You're probably right: I help businesses make small changes which bring them large results.
What about Social Media, do you know how to powerfully use Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN, Four Square (to name the key ones) for your business? Would you know which of those are right for you and which ones would be a waste of time and money? I can help you.
Technology has a tendency to constrain most businesses today - there are so many choices and its really hard to pick the right path through the technical forest.
I've been through almost every type of technology, can understand new technologys quickly, and have ready made solutions, usually low or no cost, to help your business profit immediately. Just one improvement in any of the points above should, from experience, yield tremendous results for your business.
All of the above are both observations, experience and talents that can be afforded to business owners of small to medium businesses in Auckland, New Zealand, courtesy of The Profit Partnership, a Business Consultancy for Small Businesses.
We look forward to being able to add value to you and your business, to help you succeed where you may have otherwise missed out. Suggest Achieving Results Via A Business Consultant In Auckland Nz Issues
